Sweets are everyone’s favourite, especially Jalebi. However, it isn’t easy to come across someone saying that he or she doesn’t like Jalebi because it is loved and craved by everyone. Thus,we can see markets full of Jalebis on festivals like Diwali and Dussehra. Festivals are more unusual with sweets. You don’t have to wait for festivals to have Jalebi as you can try Jalebi recipe on home and have it whenever you want. Jalebi Recipe

Ingredients For Jalebi:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour known as maida
  • One tablespoon chickpea flour known as besan
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of baking soda
  • Three tablespoons Yogurt
  • orange food colour (optional)
  • water as needed – around 1/2 cup + 2-3 tablespoons
  • oil or ghee

Ingredients For Warm Sugar Syrup:

  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • saffron strands
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

Method For Jalebi Recipe:

  • Take these ingredients flour (maida), chickpea flour (besan), baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl. Then add and yogurt cardamom powder into this bowl and mix them properly. Add food colour if you are using any and add water to have a well-prepared batter. Make sure the batter is consistent; it shouldn’t be either too thin or too thick.
  • Next step is to cover this prepared batter and to keep it covered for 10-12 hours for the process of fermentation. Small bubbles will arise on batter; it is a sign that fermentation has taken place.
  • If the batter appears too thick to you now, you can add little water to it.
  • Now take a pan and add sugar to it. Next step is to add water in the same and mix them well. Allow them to boil, once it starts boiling then add cardamom powder, saffron strand and lemon juice in the pan.
  • Allow it to simmer till it becomes quite sticky. When you notice a one string form consistency, then it is ready. You can check this consistency by having a drop of syrup within your index finger and thumb when you move it, and you will notice a single thread. If it is there, then it is all prepared.
  • Now it is the time to add batter of Jalebi in a squeeze bottle. Let oil or ghee heat in a pan and keep the flame to medium-low. Squeeze dough through a bottle in a container having hot oil. Move it spirally and increase the flame to medium-high.
  • Fry it properly till it gets crispy from both outside and inside. Once it is fried well, take it out from the oil and dip it in warm sugar syrup immediately. Keep it there for a few seconds.
  • Take out Jalebis from sugar syrup and serve it on a plate.
